About
What we do
A student society for people who like algorithms in contests, in machine learning, in systems, in whatever you happen to be building. Whether you have competed for years or wrote your first loop last term.
Codvent
Thirty days, one problem a day, opened like an advent calendar with a prize on every one. Two tracks run side by side: Beginner if you have never touched competitive programming, Expert if you want to be tested. Separate leaderboards, same calendar.
Industry events
Our partners come in to talk, set problems, and answer the things you actually want to ask, what the work is really like, how they hire, what they look for. Some of them set a day of the calendar themselves.
Not just contests
Algorithms are the through-line, not competitive programming specifically. Machine learning, systems, graphics, software engineering if there is an interesting algorithm in it, it is fair game for a session or a talk.
Weekly sessions
In person, low pressure, usually with food. We pick something and work through it together. No prep, and you do not need to have done the calendar to turn up.
Who it is for
Any year, any course, any level. Plenty of our members are not computer scientists and plenty have never entered a contest. Staff are welcome too, though they can't claim prizes.
